About Starrfish Dance Academy
Starrfish Dance Academy is a creativity and passion based dance school bringing classes to the Venice and Marina Del Rey areas for children ages three to adults! Our classes cater to students, families, and adults of all ages that would like to learn to dance in a non-competitive, encouraging, and creative environment. Students of Starrfish Dance Academy are given the opportunity to explore the history of dance, as well as root language & vocabulary of ballet, tap, jazz, & hip hop styles, increase fitness & strength, explore freestyle dance, and acquire the ability to execute a variety of technical dance movements & steps, as well as learning choreography combinations!!
STARR SMITH
Founder & Instructor
Starr Smith, founder and teacher at Starrfish Dance Academy, has been dancing passionately for the passed 15 years. She has been in various performing troupes and trained at many dance companies throughout her life including: The Edge Performing Arts Center, Millenniem Dance Complex, Cleo Parker Robinson Dance, Cherry Creek Dance, and more! She continues to grow in her dance career presently & is working on building a career as a choreographer.
In 2007, she served an an intern dance teacher for Fraser Valley Parks and Recreation as part of her education at Community College of Denver under Laurey Mooney. The following year, she began her career as a dance teacher as a result of the internship; & Starr taught classes for Fraser Valley Parks and Recreation prior to re-locating to the Los Angeles area in 2011. Starr Also has an avid career as a cosmetologist, since becoming a licensed practitioner in 2006. In 2014, she was featured on the television segment "Best of Southern California: Hairstylists" as seen on Fox MY 13 & Roku Primetv Networks.
